OXFORD - Bike Mechanic

 

ABOUT

Cycle.land connects people with bikes! We are a social marketplace for bike sharing. Our mission is to make bikes easily available and affordable to everyone everywhere. We unlock the assets of unused bikes.

Here in Oxford we run a number of different bike projects.  We provide Oxford colleges with small fleets of Community Bikes, we facilitate peer to peer bike sharing transactions via our website and also manage the operations side of the city’s only docked bike share scheme.

Cycle.land is a funded startup with global ambitions. You will be part of a fast pace work environment which strives to improve and showcase operational excellence. 

ROLE

We’re looking for someone to join our team and manage our on the ground activities in Oxford which include our college based Community Bikes and Oxonbike docked sharing scheme, as well as ad hoc projects.  We need someone to ensure that our fleets are well maintained and that our operations are running smoothly.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Weekly bike maintenance checks.

  • Weekly changing of bike lock codes.

  • Weekly hub maintenance tasks.

  • Record keeping via Google docs, forms and sheets.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge:  A solid understanding of bike mechanics.

Experience:  Experience working with bikes.

Skills, abilities & competencies:

  • Cycling - Confident cyclist.

  • Communication skills - The ability to communicate clearly and effectively via a number of different platforms.

  • Work ethic - The ability to display efficient time management, a keen eye for detail and a genuine pride in your work.

  • Practical skills - The ability to carry out full service checks on a wide range of bikes.

  • Technical Competency - The ability to work with Google Docs, Forms, Maps and Sheets via a smartphone. You will be provided with a smart phone.

  • Flexibility - The ability to adapt and grow according to cycle.land’s ever changing environment.

  • Teamwork - The ability to work as part of a small tight knit team whilst also working independently on a number of individual projects.

Confident cyclist 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A full clean driving license

Van driving experience

Salary depends on experience (at least £10.00 per hour)

30 days holiday including bank holidays pro rata

Start date - ASAP

Job Type: part time, 5-7 hours per week

Salary: £10.00-£12.00 /hour, depending on experience
